I have HP pavalion desktop running windows xp. When i try to boot my PC i get the following error: "Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report this problem as: load needed DLLs for kernel. Please contact your support person to report this problem." I cannot start my computer. Can someone help me to fix this?
Thank you in advance.
Re: Load dlls needed for kernel
you can try installing the correct drivers i.i. DLLs. Also run a disk check to see if your harddrive is working properly. Sometimes the virus infections corrupt the files and folders.

Try this:
- Insert the Microsoft Windows XP CD
- Press any key to boot from the CD
- Press the R key to enter the recovery console in the setup menu
- Select the operating system you wish to fix
- Enter the administrator password
- Type expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32
- Press enter when prompted to overwrite the file type Y
- Type exit to restart the computer
