In iOS5 can i modify the caller ID for iMessage

I have an iPhone and an iPad equally with iOS 5. I'm a little dissatisfied in iMessage in that I can’t tell my iPad to take delivery of iMessages sent to my cell phone number. I do have my cell phone put to receive from both apple ID & phone number while my iPad can merely be set to take delivery of from apple ID. So, would it be the mainly logical thing to place the caller ID for messages on my iPhone to be my apple ID? One would think this would have been the default setting. What occur when I have this wet to my apple ID and I send a message to somebody without iMessage and iOS 5?

The way I recognize it is that iMessage simply works flanked by iOS five users. So if you received a message from someone using iOS5 it would then sync across all devices distribution your AppleID assigned to iMessage. If they don't have iOS5 it will send as an SMS, and therefore only be obtainable on the phone with the phone number it was SMS'd to.

I be grateful for it a slight another method. Let's say both I have and my wife iPhones with iOS 5 on it. I as well have an iPad with iOS 5. If she sends me a text to my cell phone number, it just goes to my cell phone. if she sends me a text to my apple ID, it goes to together my iPad my phone and. Is this truthful? She would theoretically have two message streams in her messages application (one to my cell phone number and one to my apple ID) even though we both have iOS 5 devices.

I don't feel this works.. I capable send to my Apple ID which is ipad from iphone and then respond back from iPad. I essentially able have discussion between iphone and ipad. But at no occasion did I get copy messages when I was transfer messages from my iphone to my apple ID. Unless there prepare for publication to not confirm apple IDs messages on iphone when iphone is transfer them (seems doubtful).. I say there are several corks work out. The query I had is I thought you have a discussion stream (text message stream) with one self and switch to ipad and see the discussion stream and carry on it. I am having a tough time doing that. Or vice versa..

Let’s say a buddy on ios 5 who is flicking thru their cell phone decides to send me a text to my phone via my telephone number. If I have my callerID on my phone set up as my appleid, will it automatically send that message to my appleid, or will it send it to my phone number? To me this is an enormous trouble: users on phones tend to text mobile phone numbers and not electronic mail addresses. The difficulty with imessage is that if somebody imessages your cell phone number, you get fixed in a convo that only involves your cell phone and not your ipad .

I am stressed with the same problem as various here. My friend and wife get my imessages in one stream, and I am receiving two streams from every of them, one from thier cell phone and one from their ipad. Its actually ticking me off to be truthful. I'm looking during my wife's settings trying to discover the dissimilarity but I can't. anybody who knows why I would obtain a diverse message stream from the same contact because of the device they were using (iphone or ipad), I'd welcome the insight.

It would be good if you could place in your cell phone number id to your iPad so that you could obtain delivery of messages from anybody who iMessaged to your cell phone. If you can connect the other e-mail addresses with your AppleID, why not your cell phone number? Would be nice to attach my Google voice number as well, in view of the fact that few be acquainted with my genuine number. Right now I place up my caller ID as my gmail address.

And I thoughts a little extra about this, I presume the challenge is that phone numbers obtain discarded and re-cycled a lot extra than e-mail addresses.
