Motherboard unable to detect HD 5450 graphic card
I just purchased an ATI HD 5450 for my HTPC. I've not at all upgraded computer parts previously. I opened my computer and placed the video card right into the PCI x16 slot as well as it fit properly. I switched it on and totally nothing happened. I plugged my LCD back into the included video slot as well as gone into device manager. My new gpu wasn't observed there. I went into the BIOS as well as place the x16 to the main output and still zero. ATI suggest a 400w SMPS for this graphiccard but I still simply have my stock 250watts one. I unplugged the whole thing apart from my motherboard from my SMPS trying to get rid of any additional load on it, but still nothing shows up on my graphic card. After an hour or two of my PC running, the card becomes warm so something appears to be happening. Any thoughts on this post then please reply me.
Re: Motherboard unable to detect HD 5450 graphic card
For this you to disable the integrated graphics setting of the motherboard, then insert the new graphic card. This could arise a problem if the card still doesn't work as well as you are left with no method to get video from your PC. I believe that you would be capable to obtain with a BIOS reset, though. In addition, are you using the similar cable for joining to the monitor? If the monitor has numerous inputs (VGA, DVI, HDMI, etc) then it might be searching for signal in a different input. Try to use the similar input for the new card.
Re: Motherboard unable to detect HD 5450 graphic card
Your SMPS should turn off if it is loaded away from capacity. In this situation, I don't believe you can ever attain 250W with that setup (except you run somewhat similar to 5 HDDs or something). The 5450 doesn't require whichever power connectors other than those which are previously presented in the PCIe slot. I want to ask that, are you plugging in the VGA wire to the graphic card's VGA output. So check that you have inserted the proper relevant cable on your graphic card VGA output.
Re: Motherboard unable to detect HD 5450 graphic card
I think that the problem may arise due to the faulty cable ( I have a hesitation, if you're using the similar cable as previously), out of order PCIe slot, defective VGA socket, or faulty graphic card can cause such a problem in your system of not seeing the graphiccard device on the system. In the last two cases, the only answer would be to swap your graphic card for a latest one as well as observe if it experiences the similar troubles. If perhaps it's the PCIe slot that's defective, then that would need a motherboard substitute. If you can make use of a video card from someone friend or relative, and that graphic card is 100% working on their system, then try that on your system just to be convince.
Re: Motherboard unable to detect HD 5450 graphic card
Well the problem in fact relate to the 250x power supply. I m sure that the additional 12v ATX it is not connected from the psu to the motherboard. You can observe where it goes on the picture of the motherboard you posted. If that is not plugged in then it is no surprise the fresh graphic card will not perform properly in the Pci-e slot. That connector offers additional current for the CpU as well as the Pci-e card slot. So it appears like the reason why the graphic card is not still viewing up in windows hardware. It is not plugged in owing to the reality the motherboard has an integrated graphics chipset.
