I want to know if it's safe to oc my q9550 to 3g or 3.4g ?
I using normal CPU fan. and I didn't buy any other fan in my case, btw my case did include 2 fans -> CM590
here is my rig
-Asus P5Q Pro Turbo
-Q9550
-EVGA 260+ 216 CORE
-Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 1066
-Corsair 750W
-CM 590
I actually get the turbo because I don't know how to OC. I'm a noob I really need help.

The Q9550 has a 8.5 multiplier. To get 3.4GHz, or 3400MHz, you will have to use an FSB of 3400/8.5 = 400MHz. Setting the ram to 800MHz will mean a fsb to ram ratio of 1:1, which some people says offers the best performance. Adjusting the timings to 4-4-4-12 should also help. The temps will increase. You will want to minimize the vcore of the CPU in order to minimize the temps. The overclocking guide explains this quite well, so follow it carefully.
