Volume fluctuations on Logitech X-540 5.1 speakers.

hello guys , I recently purchased a Logitech X-540 5.1 speakers and was quite satisfied with it. I even tested the iball and creative speakers but thought this one would do right thing for me. It was all ok but when I came back after my holidays and did the setting of the sound which I actually do , I was not happy with what these speakers behaved. I tend to play both rock as well as pop music and it came to my notice that the volume will lower and remain at that level for some time and the beats of the music also lowers down. But there is a sudden increase in the sound which is not a usual behavior. I need to then lower the sound as soon as I receive sound increased. But after a definite interval it lowers down from that point. So I am not able to increase or decrease the sound due to this issue, the speakers are new , I thought it may be an software issue and so tried on other computers but there was no such issue and they played well. but anyways not getting an clear idea regarding the issue. So can you guys help me in my case or there might be guys who may be facing similar issues , might be with other model like iball or creative. Or I need to replace them .

If you are considering it as software issue , It could be your issue relating to your sound drivers and if its hardware issue , it could be relating with the volume knob with which you are adjusting your volume. Just check with the know as you might not getting with it as I suppose you may be adjusting the volume with the volume controller on your windows 7 menu icons.it could be somewhere around 1/3 and it will have some effects on volume fluctuation . just try with turning the knob up to about half way and see if the problem persists or not. Also check the connections are in the proper jack where they should be. I suppose your 5-speaker system is active (plugs in). They have a little amplifier circuit in it that distributes the sound through crossovers moreover drives the subwoofer. You need to take some simple set of speakers, or earphones, and try it with that instead as it might be that your setup ahs caused such issue and not your PC. If that does not solve your issue , you can check in the control panel and choose speaker icon that says sounds and audio devices and then select advanced tab and set the speaker type to be 5.1.make some attempts for that. Moreover, if your windows is set for just stereo and your getting some 5.1 decoded stuff it might be the reason for your volume levels changing.

If you are with some Erratic volume control , there might be dust and moisture which is hindering the signal at the output stage which is causing such issues, so , I have the same issue and after cleaning it with contact cleaner , it was working fine. Just make a try with this one. You need to perform this by accessing the volume pod by opening the cover and spray the contact cleaner so that this behavior would be eliminated.and according to me, I suppose that a dodgy controller would also work in this case and it seems to work ok . If it happens when you make use of the speakers on two dissimilar devices that would verify it as a hardware defect .

I made some settings in the control knob and found that there were some loose connections and after some hard search I found that I need to first select an tune which is limit of 1 kHz and then made a download of that tone to make some testing. I slowly turned the knob.and after setting the control knob to fix position and made volume changes from the level adjuster in the icons, all was set. So you can try that way. But if that does not solve your issue then I can say that your issue may be relating with the variable resistor used for volume control, which I measured at 20k ohm. You need to perform some soldering,and try with removing the resistor and make an replacement of it . so try with this one and reply for the same if it works in your case.
