Windows phone UI overuse or underuse the spaces more often

Sometimes I feel that the Windows phone User Interface has not been well designed. Especially the spacing within the menu items and other placements is not properly managed and settled.

I personally feel that either the spaces are overly used or not at all used in a proper manner at most of the places. For example: there is a long space under the arrow on the home screen which seems to be like not at all used and completely wasted. Also the Messaging notifications have a lot of space above the message.

There are lot more places where you can find such spacing issues. Other than this I don’t feel there are any other serious issues with this phone, in fact they are best with regards to other specifications.

After reading your thread now I have noticed such unusual things in my windows phone. Other than what you have mentioned here I can also find some other places where the same spacing issue is arise.

But obviously no one feels it as a drawback of windows phone until you take each and every aspect of the phone too seriously. No phone is so perfect that you can get home screen and the icons perfectly placed with equal spacing and uniformly as per your requirements.

It’s the designer and the developers who implement their idea so obviously they cannot read out your mind and fulfill your requirements.

In windows phone you can notice more other User Interface issues if go through the phone clearly, there are some which I found out:

    • The title of every screen appears to be too large and over zoom which looks ugly.
    • Even the media player buttons of the windows phone are too large and huge which again makes the player and the phone look too ugly.
    • Context buttons at the bottom of every screen are too closely spaced together, if this is the case then the developer should have added more button in order to fill out the empty spaces, if this is the case then the developer should have added more button in order to fill out the empty spaces.
    • Track lists in the Zune have too big a font

I totally disagree with the spacing issue you people have mentioned over here. I personally liked the overall setup of the menus and the icons of the phone. Everything I feel is perfectly setup and well placed equally.

I could only find few fault here and there in the phone but I guess if those faults are eliminated then the additional information displayed on the screen would be too less and minimal. The UI of this phone is very much easy to see and understand. So not necessary to change anything with respect to User Interface of this phone

Yes you are right my friend, there is nothing to change with respect to the UI of this phone as even I feel it as good and better. In fact I would hate it if they try to change the UI as the UI would have become a big mess because of the huge amount of information. Also we need to understand that there must be some reason for such placement and spacing with the design of the home screen and other things.

It was said that the designers did so keeping in mind that the design should successfully work on all other variety of screen sizes.

The only thing I would like to change in windows phone would be the full keyboard in ls and also I would like to add some toggle switches under the arrow.
