Buttons not working in Sony Ericsson W705

Just 2 days I bought a new sony ericsson W705. Yesterday I opened the box to check out the phone and its functionality. I inserted the battery and switched on the phone. But what I noticed was that all my number buttons on my keypad were not working. I got scared; I switched off the phone and removed the battery. Later on again I inserted the battery and started the phone and guess what, the buttons were working. The very next day another very interesting thing I noticed was that most of my buttons including those number buttons were not working. And this time that battery removing and reinserting trick too didn’t work. What should I do? Should I return the phone or it’s just a simple problem which can be sorted out by me?

Hi friend, my sony ericsson W705 is 1 year old. And now even I am facing the same problem. Almost all the buttons are not working. When took my handset to the repair center they said that it’s a hardware problem. Most of the wires have been displaced and defected. He replaced them and got it repaired within half an hour but didn’t guaranteed me of its proper working.
The main reason he gave me was the sliding which is connecting the screen and the keypad. I would better switch on to some other handset till then let see now how long it works.

Yours is a new handset. So be aware before sending it to any service center and getting it disassembled. Its better instead of doing that you should try updating the software, sometimes it works or else try Hard Reset option. May be everything will come to its normal condition as soon as you will hard reset your phone. Sometimes software problem occurs in new devices which can be solved with minor solutions.

For your kind information let me tell you that my phone’s C-button, Dial-button, main keypad buttons, red disconnecting button are not working. And the buttons which are in a working condition on/off, volume button, camera button and some other one or two that’s all.
So now I think the picture is clear for you, I can’t update the software because I can’t press the main buttons and also can’t do the hard reset just because of the same reason. So please suggest me with such solutions which do not include the working of buttons.

Same problem with my 1 year old sony ericsson W705. Reason was simple; the flex cable that comes under the keypad became lose. I just came to know when I disassembled my phone and checked it. It’s a common problem, the two flex wires come out or becomes lose in most of the phones. You need not have to take your phone to the repair center or contact the care center. You can do it by yourself by reinserting those flex wires to its original place if and only if you know how to disassemble your phone.

I am quite shocked to hear that most of the people faced the similar problem that too just after 1 year. I am one of them. When contacted the service care center they said that there might be some issue with the wiring connection. At that time I thought I am the only one with this problem. But I understood everything and very much surprised. This co-incidence is not at all unexpected. Anyways I sent my phone to the service center and got it repaired as it was under warranty. Yours is a new one so definitely even you can get it repaired from the care center for free of cost.

Anyone who can let me know how I can repair my W705 facing the same problem under warranty? But the problem is that I lost my invoice. I bought my phone long back ago so I don’t remember where exactly I kept the invoice.
Do we really need the invoice for the cell phone to get under warranty? I have the warranty card too.

Invoice bill is the most important document which is required whenever you get your device repaired under warranty. An invoice is required just to see the production date of the product so that the service center people can verify the expiry of your warranty date. So if you have IMEI number present on your phone then definitely you can get the production date of your phone. IMEI number is a unique 15 digit code that keeps all the information about the device. But I am not sure whether the service center will accept it or not.
