New Dell XPS 15 with 9 cell battery gives hardly 2 to 3 hours life.

I bought a Dell XPS 15 L502X two weeks back with a 9cell battery. At first it gave 6 to 7 hours battery backup. But now it gives hardly 2 to 3 hours. My use is just basic like listening to music, watching movies etc. At screen brightness to 10% and balanced power mode. I contacted dell regarding the same, they say the battery can not be replaced, as it would be done only when the battery is not charging at all or damaged. Im deeply worried, its just 2 weeks old.

Can you please confirm even after putting the battery on power saver mode, do you get the same issue with it? Have you tried switching off the bluetooth and the wifi mode on your laptop, because if you are using your laptop on battery then it will soon get dispersed. Try to upgrade to 12 cell battery and see if it solves the issue.

Ya its almost the same with power saver mode. The bluetooth & wifi is off. I dont even use internet on my laptop. I hardly get 3 hours life even in the standby mode with no programs running:'(

This has to be a battery issue and since it was recently bought, dell should replace the faulty battery under any circumstances, as it will be under warranty. If they dont do it, then take them to the consumer court and sue them with the faulty product sold to you.
