GPS Accuracy of Motorola Motoactv is varying

I have recently bought Motorola Motoactv and it is working well and I don’t have any other problem with it but then I have noticed that the GPS Accuracy of Motorola Motoactv is varying Over the course of a run and it is not tracking accurate mileage as well.Just for a example I will like to share that when I am running between the centre of the road then it is showing that I am running along the side and even far away from the road side itself. I don’t know that it is some kind of problem but I just wanted to ask that is there anyone who has faced the same. Any suggestion for this will be appreciated

Yes even I have experienced the same and I think that it is not any kind of problem actually but then yes it is not able to give the accuracy but then I have seen such types of problem with the tomtom as well so I think that such devices are not able to give the perfect or what you say the correct and the accurate gps but then I think that it is able to give 80 percent GPS Accuracy and though it is not complete but then I think that I am satisfied with it and I really don’t have any problem with it as well and I am just enjoying it since the day I had bought it.

Even I have experienced the same and I have also done a test to check out how much difference is there in the accuracy of it as compared to the Garmin 610.I was using both of them at the same time and here is my result:

Motoactv:
Distance - 8.10 miles
Time: 1:15:32
Calories: 1968
Avg Pace: 9:20/mi

Garmin 610:
Distance - 8.55 miles
Time: 1:15:30
Calories: 1012
Avg Pace: 8:40/mi

Hey that is pretty interesting but then when I compare it with the detail from my cycling routes then I will say that I am getting much better accuracy then what you have posted above and as far as I think that even I have noticed that it does not give the accurate position but then if I take the above example of the road then I will say that it will only vary with the width of the road and not as the side of the road which the one has specified in his example.

First of all I will like to inform you that with the cycling routes the accuracy will be definitely be better because at that that time you are more exposed to the sky I mean that it is easy to track it down as compared to the areas at the side of the road or some other areas that are not much exposed to the sky. I mean the details that I have posted above is not exactly on the road and I was running between the houses and in the backyards and may be that is the reason that I am getting the above difference but if you still don’t think so then I will say that try out yourself and then post you details here so we all can make out its varying difference.

Yes I agree to you completely and I will like to add more that the angle of the device in relation to the sky really impacts the GPS resolution. I will also like to inform that the Armband mounted devices or say the ones for the shoulder will not be able to give you better accuracy because they are not able to face the sky directly as compared to the wrist band mounted units and if you are cycling then the wrist stays consistent and it get better sky angles as such areas are much clear and also gets all-around view of sky as well and the battery life also varies as per the area.

Yes the battery life will definitely vary with the area. I will like to give you a example of the same, I mean that if your are running between the houses and the backyards or between some places that are not well exposed to the sky then their batter will drain faster as compared to the device which is used while running on side of the main roads or on the side walking streets which are directly exposed to the sky. You can really check out the difference by testing the same.

I have tried it out today and yes I have experienced the draining of battery as well but then I think that the draining of battery is not important and what I expect is the gps accuracy which I think we are not getting and I really think that they should work on it as well.
