    installing gingerbread in motorola defy

    I would say that I am using the motorola defy as my smartphone , but want to know how can I install the gingerbread in to my motorola defy. Since I am new to this kind of thing can any one explain me this in detail. As I want to install the android 2.3 to my phone.

    I think there is update available for the android 2.2 for the motorola defy , then why you want to go for the installationg of android 2.3 gingerbread. instead of installing try updating the gingerbread for your motorola defy phone. As doing this is easily inderstandable and would become easy for you. So I would suggest you to go for the upgradation rather then installing the android 2.3

    Yeah…even I want to know how to do installation for the motorola defy phone. As I am using the android 2.2 and want to install the android 2.3 for my phone. So can you tell me the procedure for the installation of gingerbread.

    If you want to install the gingerbread for your motorola defy then here the following steps to follow. But before installing the android 2.3 gingerbread to your phone. You should reqiure some software in your motorola defy.
    Here are the list of the softwares require:-

    - CyanogenMod 7
    - RSD Lite
    - SuperOneClick v1.7

    So to do installation follow the steps down here : -

    • First install the RSD lite in your computer
    • Now turn off your phone , then press the power keys and the volume up keys
    • Now on computer you should try to browse .sbf file in the RSD lite
    • Now click on the start and wait till the procedure is completed
    • Now in your phone go to the settings ==> applications ==>development==>chech whether USB is able to debug or not.
    • Now in your computer try installing the superoneclick v1.7 and then click on root
    • Now go to the phone and see the market and install the defy 2ndnit
    • Open and install 2ndnit recovery
    • After finishing this , the LED in it will turn to green and now go to the settings =>application =>development and uncheck the USB debugging
    • Now reboot your phone twice
    • In computer copy the CyanogenMod 7.zip and googleapps.zip to your sd memory card.
    • When you see the blue LED lights , try restarting your phone.
    • Now “setdefaultBootmode” then select 2init boot
    • Go to start
    • Now take the backup of ROM using the backup option
    • Wipe data/factory reset using “wipe cache partition”.
    • Now select the install zip from your sd memeory card
    • Select “+++++GoBack++++++” and restart you device now.

    I want to know will this be able to do in other phones as I am using the samsung ace and want to know whether it is possible to do in the samsung phones or is the installing procedure only for the motorola defy smartphones.
