No it would not work for a iPhone 3G. cause this working for the original iPhone and that is the simply alternative for the phone which is unlimited data. The 200 text messages has no concern on you if you contain family messaging unlimited etc. still if you have unlimited text you be able to always call back in to acquire it added back on.
