Toshiba A45 Laptop black screen at boot and then shutdown

My father's laptop which is Toshibha A45 series stopped working. It’s behaviour was not proper over the last 3 months or so.

He used to charge the laptop by every evening and in morning battery indicator will glow amber. Moreover, the laptop shuts down whenever he watches videosfrom youtube and while doing any extra work.

It has completely stopped working from yesterday onwards.

Computer boots when power is switched on, black screens comes and then shuts down.

Is it a battery related problem?

Can he remove the battery and use the laptop by directly connecting to AC Power?

Yes, you can try to remove the battery and connect it directly to the AC Power and check whether it is botting or not. If it is booting then it is a clear indication of battery problem. By the way how old is the laptop? If it is able to boot then try to do a repair install of the OS as well and then connect the battery and see if it normally boots or gives the same problem.
