    Canon 60D Lens Flare

MY father has bought me a new and shiny digital camera yesterday and that is Canon 60D with the EF-S 17-55 f2.8 lens. On the other hand what time I'm capturing pictures I observe there appears to be plenty more (what I'm guessing) is lens flare. Is there anything wrong with my camera.

Try to make pictures with backlight without the filter. In the past I've had problems with their own flare generated by the filter (although of excellent quality). Since then, the filters are in my bag and I use them only in situations where I needed to protect the lens. The problem could also be due to strong light shining from behind the viewfinder, such as self-timer

If you really shooting against the sun, and then even the reflection in the water main to your image, you should not wonder that your picture is bad huh. The flare is not too bad then. For this photo you would with a polarizing filter had a small improvement, but he would never become good. Incidentally, this kind of photography do not automatic, but you have to do manually; I guess you do not already.

Try first picture without a UV filter, you'll have much less affected by flare. You can never be 100% prevent flare in backlight, and even the best lenses have ever experienced. When I see the flare in this picture, I suppose the biggest stain comes from the front element and reflections between the UV filter.

But in this case, there is always likely to flare, because it clearly shows that sunlight falls directly on the front element, and also sit with the bright reflection of sun on the ice. The hood of a zoom lens is designed so that in the widest position just no vignetting does, but just so that in the telephoto position much less effective. With a prime lens hood is actually made to the front element as well as possible to shield and thereby should only be considered a focal length.

But never a lens hood helps eliminate glare directly on the front element does, because if you need to protect that, you get a black picture.

And here you probably would get less flare without UV filter. Do not try to find that flare filter, eliminate because it does not exist, and with each type of filter is simply worse, with a polarizing filter.

It's not a matter of experience. The recovery in front of the sun almost always involves the occurrence of flare. It 'a matter of which you need to know and make sense. With more diaphragms' closed more evident while apertures are manifested as diffuse glow.

    Re: Canon 60D Lens Flare

Occasionally I am asked why a particular photo on a weird spot of light to see. Often it than lens flare from a light source just outside the scene. Lens Flare makes sure that there are light spots in the picture, but the contrast in the image decreases. However, flare is not always negative; it can also just take a picture. If you understand how you can create flare preventing or creative use.

Lens flare occurs when relatively bright light in a corner of a lens falls. These reflect light rays inside the lens, sometimes several times before they fall on the sensor. This flare recorded by the sensor. Since each lens - on the simplest lens after - multiple glass elements that light to the right spot on the sensor should lead, walk with almost any lens the chance of lens flare occurs.

The flare occurred in this case depends not so much by the couple time / aperture, but the front light condition in which a series of Canon L series is difficult. I must say that in fact is a little stressed for a lens like this but maybe there is everything you had added a filter on the lens when shooting?

To combat flare manufacturers place a coating on the lens, it is more expensive depending on the lens. With new versions of a lens is often specifically mentioned that the coating counteracts the flare. In professional lenses, such as the Canon L-series lenses, you notice that the coating does help indeed compared with the cheapest lenses. But this will never be able to go to the flare, which remains the responsibility of the photographer. Also remember that if you are really good filters in front of your lens needs. Especially the transparent UV filters are not necessary in many circumstances and can provide extra flare. Especially with multiple gray filter over a row you get this soon, the farther apart the different elements the more likely that the light is bouncing inside the lens.
