Facebook Messenger for iPhone and Android Phones

Recently Facebook launched itself onto the Instant Messaging market by creating a new Facebook Messenger. Though the Messenger is now available to iPhone and Android phones only. It’s also gonna launch for Blackberry soon. Well, I have just started using it and thought it to be a decent application though don’t understand the need for an IM now. What do you think about the new Facebook messenger?

Yeah, I am using it and simply loving it. Don’t worry Facebook’s soon gonna launch a lot of new features to its Facebook chat. Well, in the market there are already many options for IM’s like What’s App and BB Messenger. But, I think Facebook soon gonna take over them all because it simply rules now. The many other features are group conversations and sharing photos on the go. You can now chat with friends from anywhere easily. Although now I’m gonna have to forget all the other accounts of yahoo, ICQ, etc.

The advantage of having a Facebook app is that since almost all your friends are already on Facebook you don’t have to add someone specially to come and chat on Facebook. So, naturally many will prefer chatting on Facebook while browsing the walls and profiles too. Although, I feel having messenger is redundant as Facebook already had a message option in its normal application where we could chat with others who were online nyways. But still people preferred Yahoo and other messengers as they were fun than normal chatting on Facebook. Maybe they will need to improve on their features and bring some new things in order to attract new users.

Well, if we compare the iMessage on iPhone and Facebook I would prefer Facebook due to following: iMessage is tied to email addresses and contacts on iPhone whereas Facebook is based on FB friends which are larger than your iPhone contacts. iMessage has not got better looks than FB. It looks just another sms app. FB will handle group messaging and video chat hopefully which is not possible until now in iPhone. The biggest thing is it will be working on Facebook.com and will b more reliable. The problem until now is they have different apps for normal FB and messenger. They will need to integrate both the applications that will be great. Well, you can already see Facebook Messenger being one of the top downloads of Android market. But they will need to grasp the attention and keep on to it though.
