Nokia N900 doesn’t charge and connect to the computer using usb

I have purchased a Nokia N900 smartphone from the near mobile store. It has been around 1 week since I have bought it. It was working absolutely fine till now. Recently I have observed that the phone isn’t getting charged properly. When I connect to charge, it charges for some while and then instantly it stops charging. I have tried out charging the phone with two different charges but no gain. I also tried to connect the phone to the PC via USB but it didn’t connect. I have checked the USB ports with other devices, it works. There is certainly no issue with the usb port. I don’t know what to do know. Any suggestions to resolve this problem, I would highly appreciate it.

Tell me what happens when you power the phone without charger. Have you tried connecting your phone to another computer? It could be anything. But as far as I know there have been many charging issues with this phone. It is very unreliable when it comes to charging. I would suggest you to install the latest update in your phone. I think (PR1.1 1.2009.51) is the latest version. You can download it from the internet.

As you have mentioned that it charges for some time and then it stops so I think there could be some issues with the phone. Try to drain the full battery or before that try to remove the battery from your phone. After draining the battery connect your phone with the charger in order to charge. See whether it is charging now of it isn’t then I would recommend you to take the phone to the nearest hardware shop and get it checked. There could be some hardware problem that I am suspecting.

What happens when you connect your phone with the usb. Does your PC recognize the phone? If it doesn’t detect then try to put the cable in different usb ports. If all fail to detect then I suspect the issue is with the phone. As you said that the phone doesn’t get charged with two charges so it is obvious that there is some problem with your phone. Did you mishandle your phone? Many times that is the reason.

Well I had the same issue with my N900 phone. I installed the latest firmware in the phone, but nothing happened. I installed the operating system back but my phone showed the same issue. Once try to load the operating system back. I hope in your case it works. Actually my phone had fell down from the stairs and since then I had this problem. Unfortunately I tried all possible things but nothing seemed to work out then without any option left I had to sell it off. My phone wasn’t in the warranty period so I could get it replaced. I would suggest you to get it replaced if it’s in the warranty period.

I think in the case of your battery the problem may be because of your phone battery. Your battery might have got expired or maybe it is a faulty one. I would suggest you to change your battery. To check that whether your battery is gone or not put some other battery in your phone and charge it .If it gets charge then it means that your battery is not proper so change the battery else the main issue is with your phone .Then you can visit your nearest nokia care center for further assistance. For usb I think you should you should change the connector as it often gets easily corrupted.

Well I think replacing your phone would be a best option as this phone has charging issues. This phone never succeded because of these problems. Nokia were not able to detect the problem so they decided to stop the production of the nokia N900. Well in this thing there is the problem with phone too. It seems that charger is fine and the usb port is fine. I think the IC in the phone should be changed. Changing the IC would surely solve the issue. Take your phone to the hardware shop.
