unable to recognise 50mm SSD in Asus eee pc 901

I have a Asus Eee pc 901 at my home. The working is fine of my device till last week but after that I faced some problem. Actually I bought the new 50mm SSD from eBay at last week and after that the problem was started. I also upgrade my BIOS to 2103. The real problem is that my system cannot recognize the SSD. I checked the BIOS also but I get nothing under the advanced HDD setup. And after that my system shows the Error message that “please inserts the bootable device.” I can’t understand the problem. I also check out my hardware but nothing found. I don’t want to call the engineer. Can anyone there who can give me some suggestions to solve my problem? Please help me.

I can give you some suggestion for your problem. The device you are using is the mSATA drive and it cannot work with Asus Flash_Con slot. Because they have different pinouts for their systems. If you want to do some thing to get it back to work then you can use the modding option. For this solution you can also refer the various site like joojoo and all that. The reason behind that is Asus eee pc with Mini PCIe SSD's use a proprietary standard called Flash_Con. This will replace the normal PCI pins with both the PATA and SATA. I wish this will help you while solving your problem.

I want to give you some information about the device which you are using. From that you can get the information to solve your problem. mSATA aka mini SATA is the new universal standard and that is created by a consortium of companies. Those companies configure the SATA pins into the mini PCI express slot format. proprietary standard called Flash_Con is used by the Asus Eee PC's with Mini PCIe SSD. Which is very useful to replace the normal PCI pins with the PATA as well as SATA pins. That means they both offering SATA pins and they are not similar. And the remaining ones are not work without modding the pinout.

I know that this type problems are mostly found in this field. I want to tell you that mSATA has different standard than that of the Kingspec which makes the Flash_Con drives. And you can easily see that the linked mod instruction should work with a simple reversal of the pin changes. If you want to convert it to Flash_Con instead of Flash_Con to mSATA from mSATA then you have to install same pins in the same sockets. Means the reference will just reversed. There are so many companies like Runcore for Flash_Con SATA drives who offer mSATA to regular SATA connector adapters, so by the use of that you can easily use the drives in regular system. wish this will work for you.

After reading your problem I come to know that your problem can be solved using various methods. I am giving you one of them. You can use the 70mm Mini PCI-E SATA SSD. Because it is compatible with the Asus Eee pc 901 and provide better support. So I recommend you to use Renice X3 70MM MINI PCI-E SSD with Sandforce controller, which provides help to solve your problem. This can be easily available for you on various sites like Kobe, futurestorage etc. this might work for you. Thank you.

I want to give you some information that can be useful to you for solving your problem. The 70mm are generally the Flash_Con because other types are more confirming to the standard Mini PCIe Card size formats and that will be closer to 50mm. actually the Asus eee pc 901 can use the 50mm as well as 70 mm Flash_Con Asus Mini PCIe SSDs, and it has two flash con slot for use the primary 4 GB 50 mm length card. I think this will provide some help to solve your problem. Thank you.
