Cannot access hidden VCD from my WD Passport Essential

I am having the WD Passport Essential SE (USB 3.0) which is working well from last two months. But one day when I tried to access the VCD then I found that it was not able to access the hidden VCD. Drive was visible to me but when I open that then there was nothing on the hidden partition. The Passport Essential says that there is no writable WD Smartware there. Please tell me that what should I do to make it visible?

It is very simple to do that. Just open the Windows Explorer and from the menu bat select “Tools” and then select last option that is “Folder Option”. When you click that then it will open the “Folder Option” window with many tabs. Choose the tab that says “view” and after that select the radio button for the “show hidden files and folder”. Now press Apply > OK. After this when you open that in your computer then you will be able to see the files in that without any problem.

I think that there is some password protection and that is the reason that you are not able to access those files. So what you can do is just disable the security and after that again try to access that to see if it allows you the access. There are some of the similar cases where disabling the password protection helps to solve the problem and I hope that this will do the same for you. Please reply with the result.

You require updating the firmware to the latest one and this can cure the problem. To do the update, you can make use of the apollo updater. Updating the firmware will load all the latest files to the computer and if there is problem with some of the corrupted file then updating it will solve the issue for you. So it will be better for you to go with the update and see if it helps you or not.

Many of the times with the issues like this, the hard drive is write protected and it will be better for you change the drive with the new one and you will be out of the issue. There is one software as TestDisk that might help you to solve this issue. So search for this as well and use that in your case. See if that helpful to you in any manner or not. I am not very sure about the TestDisk that it will resolve the problem as I have not used that before.

It might be the virus problem with your computer and for that reason you are getting that problem. So the first thing that you need to do is to scan the whole computer with a good antivirus and after that delete all the files that is detected as corrupted. After cleaning all the corrupted files, you will have to reboot your computer and the issue will be resolved but only if it is due to virus infection.
