Plug a USB 2 Ethernet adapter to an android phone

Hey I have android HTC smart phone with me. Lucky to have it, but I want to know something unique about it. My question is that Is it possible to plug an USB 2 Ethernet adapter to my android phone and use an Ethernet cable to connect to internet, I mean to say use Web using it when the Wifi is not available?

I don’t think so, there is no possible ways as far as I concerned. But after reading your query, I did quite research on the internet about connecting USB 2 Ethernet adapter to an android phone and using web with it. The possible ways through which you can to the internet on your phone is via 3g/4g or wifi. You can use any of these. In future there might be a possibility of such kind of stuff.

Yes, Even I agree to the fact that there is no such possible ways. I tried searching about it over the internet but failed to find such results. This indicates that again, the only way to connect to the internet on an android phone is to use 3g/4g or wifi. You cannot connect an Ethernet cable to an android phone, no matter what kind of adapter you think will work. That day is not do far that you can. The only think you can do is wait.

There are many results that it is not possible but that does not mean you should stop trying ways. If you could then it would be a new search. I think I have an idea. Just take the USB 2.0 to Ethernet driver code and port it on the android then it should be feasible. There must be some drivers which distribute the source code of their USB to Enternet device.

There is no such possible ways I could see. It’s very logistic that it is not possible. I have valid Points to prove this such as It would not be not feasible to have an Ethernet port on a small phone making it complicated and it would make the phone too big. For that you have to carry around an adapter in your pocket. And I am sure this would get annoying to the users. Comparatively 3g, 4g or wifi will work fine for everybody. So in case if it is possible, it won’t be too useful.

I can understand the reason behind your Ethernet thought. You must me thinking that Ethernet connection is the most efficient internet connection. So there is possibility that Google may design Android to be able to efficiently connect to the Internet out of the box. But this concept is a future possibility. As far as we can do is wait for them to do something. Don’t try these weird stuffs with your smart phone. You may face with unusual troubleshooting with your mobile.

There are transoceanic cables for internet connection. As easier to share a PCs connection via USB but then we have to deal with lots of different USB-Ethernet hardware which will lead to more complication and big size device. That won’t be easily portable. Also you would need some internet sharing software running on the PC side. The problem of this statement is that it is misleading. Most people connect "Ethernet" with copper cables or Fiber cables. I don’t think it is possible with mobile.
