Unable to update LG Optimus V mobile

Hey guys, I am trying to update my LG Optimus V mobile phone but I am finding it impossible to do so. Inorder to update the firmware of my LG Optimus mobile, I installed the USB drivers for the same on my Windows XP running computer system. I also installed the required LG Mobile Support tools in my system. But unfortunately still the support tool is refusing to recognize the phone. Please help me regarding this problem. I also had the same issue with my LG mobile and was constantly getting “Disconnected. Please connect your phone” error whenever I tried to connect my mobile phone with my PC where I have installed all the necessary tools and USB drivers. After lots of struggle I finally came across a solution which had worked for me. What you need to do is just ignore the Mass Storage option, which you will get at the time of connecting the mobile phone to your system using the USB cable. After cancelling the Mass Storage request, your system will automatically detect your mobile phone.

The mobile phone which you are using and trying to update is recently launched, so most probably it must be having the latest firmware installed in it. You can visit the official website of LG and check out whether any new updates are available for the LG Optimus V mobile phone. If you are able to find one then you can install it in your mobile by connecting your mobile to your computer. Make sure that you have kept your Internet connection On and it is working well and good.

According to me you should try updating the firmware of your LG Optimus V mobile phone with the help of "Over the Air" (OTA) instead of using the Update tool. Because I have also tried connecting and detecting my LG Optimus V cell phone with the help of the Update Tool but was unable to do so. The Update tool just does not agrees to detect the device. But the OTA has worked for me, so I am suggesting the same to you.

Thank you, guys for the assistance. It was very helpful of you good people to reply my thread. I tried many times to get my mobile phone detected by the LG Mobile Support tool, but nothing seems to be working, then I tried updating the firmware by connecting to the Over the Air (OTA) and it did the trick. Also I forgot to mention one more issue with my mobile phone. It has been restarting by itself, automatically, without any warning. What must be causing this? How I can solve this issue?

Automatic restart might be happening because of outdated firmware. So just update your mobile's firmware and check whether the issue still exists in your device or not. If you are still facing the problem, then the best solution on this issue would be to visit the nearest LG store and submit your mobile phone to the technical staff to get your mobile tested for occurrence of any problems. There might be some loose connection, which might be causing the problem in your mobile.
