Esata Connection not working on ThinkPad W701

I invented to try out my new esata external disk; I had used it before with my EX495 home server, without any problems. But when I linked it to the W701 it seemed like the connection unsuccessful and the drive fell to snooze when I tried to write to it. When I used USB it worked perfectly, and with the server esata worked without a delay. After trying that some time, I decided to try updater, and then a reboot. After that all of the usb ports failed.I had already looked at the Lenovo update program, and found some updates, so I controlled the computer with the track pad, and updated, but when the computer restarted suddenly, and screen showed an underline blinking and that was it. After that the computer screen went black and won't turn on anymore. I have it for 5-6 weeks now, and after 1 week the Motherboard failed when setting in new ram, and was switched, now it has failed again - is there anything I could to, or does this one have to go in on service again?

Trying unplugging any usb attached HardDrive devices attached to it and then restart. Try replacing your Mother Board. Go to nearest Lenovo superstore and talk to them and tell your issue .once they understand your issue they will be able to help you out. If your product still under warranty than im sure they will help you out. I think they will replace your motherboards and if it is not under warranty than get it repair.

Just as a confirmation of this issue, I got the same trouble when I rationalized my BIOS (letting Think Vantage do its thing). I have a ThinkPad W701 (Got couple of weeks ago), just called support and they confirmed that I had to send it in for a new Motherboard. Would have thought there was some quality check when releasing these updates, but, I guess not..... Initially I thought it was some software problem but turns out to be motherboard problem.

I have also used Think vantage to bring up to date my W70 but Black screen, powers on and lights up no bios screen or boot up extremely annoying. But it’s true I have seen many people facing similar problem i think there is some problem in Lenovo motherboard. I just made online complaint to Lenovo support center they said they will look into my problem and if it is mother board problem they will replace it as soon as possible.

Whenever u find, any problem in your levono systems try to figure out the actual problem which is causing the problem. If your able to figure out the actual problem than get it fix yourself or by calling some engineer at your place. If you’re not able to figure out actual problem then find out nearest Lenovo service center and tell them difficulty u facing. Once they understood your problem they will rectify your problem.
