Unable to recognize Blu-ray after updating PS3’s firmware to version 3.56

My uncle gifted me PS3 last month. After I received PS3 I play games only that PS3. I don’t use my PC for playing games. But yesterday I came across a strange issue after I restructured the firmware of my PS3 to version 3.56. After the up gradation the firmware the PS3 was not identifying the Blu-ray discs, movies or games. In my PS3 DVD’s are working fine. I don’t know how to revert back to the previous version. Is anyone aware about this issue? If yes then please help me out.

The issue that you are facing is due to the firmware update that you performed. I know that such issues are normally irritating but I will provide you the solution to solve the issue. I had the same difficulty in my PS3. My PS3 was only able to read DVDs not the Blu-ray dics. When I used to load the icon it seems to be running but after it stops there was nothing on the XMB. Finally to overcome the issue I cleaned the lens of my PS3 with the help of the video that was available on the internet. After cleaning the lens everything was working properly. The cleaning is normally an instant process that solved the issue in my PS3. The lens cleaning process worked out in my case, it is now you chance to try it out.

It is actually very complicated to find the accurate reason for this issue. As you are not use to such issues that can be reason you are finding this issue complex. To overcome the issue I would suggest you to include the update via media device only when the system is in safe mode. Downloaded, it directly from official website.
