Need help, how to install a new ROM on motorola droid X ?

Hey I got my first smart phone two days back, it is Motorola Droid x 2.3.340.MB810, I rooted it through the Z4root, and download the ROM manger first from the application store and installed it, and the installed a Flash Work Recovery from the ROM manager, and then download the latest version of the fission ROM from FRM, but even after installing the new ROM, Droid restart and just starts up as usual. What’s went wrong By the way, need suggestion.

See, as far as I know The ROM manager is not made for the droid first of all, then obviously It won’t help you to installed the new ROM, thus you should simply uninstall that program and install the new ROM manually and with the very basic specific steps. I am hoping that you are aware that for installing a new ROM you must have to flash the phone and then only you can install a new ROM, and by the way I would like to say that fission is good.

For installing the new ROM in your phone, I would suggest you to have a glance at the instruction that is to be consider before installing a new ROM, first of all you have to be rooted, and that’s good that you had already mentioned, and after that you must have the software called DROID X BOOSTRAP to be installed in your mobile, then follow certain steps, Download the ROM manager from the market, and if you have already, click on the Flash Clockwork Recovery, after that you’ll get the option for downloading the ROM. As it completes the download process it will start installing the new ROM, be patient as the first boot will take some time.

I absolutely agree with the above user, as all the steps are appropriate for installing a new ROM, but be careful before installing, because it will first wiped out all the data from your smart phone, thus I would recommend you to have a proper backup of all the data, so that if suppose something went wrong while installing you can simple recover all the data, thus this is my strong, rather obvious recommendation before installing.

Hey thanks for your kind attention on this query, as I was worried about this too much since yesterday, and you’re right I haven’t backup my data, and it all wiped out, now I will make sure to have a backup first and then will proceed the other steps, but still I want to know about the latest ROM’s that will be best suitable for my droid X, as I haven’t download any of yet, but heard about lots of ROM, which one should I download?

This is something difficult to judge, because everyone has their own opinion on according to their uses and utilizations, but still let it be. Well, there are three to four different ROMs that will be suitable for your smart phone, but I would recommend you that you should used the paid version instead of the free one, otherwise you won’t be able to use all the functions provided by that ROM.

Hey I would like to suggest you that you should install the Apex, I am using it and for that I’d say, it is superb. And about the others it is Darkslide 4.2 Blurless-ish and the very good liberty, and I also heard that it is specially made for Droid X only, thus you can try that also, and yeah make sure that you download it from the official site, or else it will lead to cause damage to your phone also. The application market will be the good place to download from.
