First insert the Driver Utility DVD into your cd\DVD rom then browse for windows xp or Winxp folder. If it is there then install audio driver by going executing the executable file (having extension .exe).or open my computer property select hardware tab then select the device manager then browse for sound, video and game controller select update driver then select don’t search, I will choose the driver to install, For the Hardware Type select 'Show All Devices' Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk”. Then browse for the WiSVHe5.inf. Then ignore if any xp complain. Reboot system

First you have to download a universal audio architecture (UAA) for service pack 2 from Microsoft official site. Then download Conexant High-Definition SmartAudio 221 Driver and unzip that
then proceed for the installation of Microsoft UAA which functions for the High Definition Audio.
Then in notification area new hardware found message popup than use device manager ,right click on "Audio Device on HD",choose Update driver, select don’t search, I will choose the driver to install, For the Hardware Type select 'Show All Devices' Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk”. Then browse for the WiSVHe5.inf. Then ignore if any xp complain. Reboot system

Press Windows Logo+BREAK, a System Properties gets open. Click on a hardware tab > Device Manager now click on unspecified or unknown device now click on the detail tabs. Post the top string of characters you see. That string identifies the manufacturer of the device and the device type and model. With that info, we can search the driver. Basically device type and model is a hardware type which consists of combination of alpha –numerical.

Download the driver detective it’s a third party which will download the proper driver and install it for your laptop. Or simply search for the official website of Compaq and visit it. Select the support, select software and driver download, enter product name, and select your operating system, download the appropriate driver. The supported driver is Conexant High-Definition SmartAudio 221 Driver for your laptop. Or maybe by opening the case and looking on the motherboard for the audio chip maybe you can determine which driver you need.
