Touch screen not responding on Motorola Xoom

I am having Motorola Xoom and it was working fine and I got a problem in it which is that touch screen of my tablet was not able to receive any input. It was not functioning was any input I give only the hardware buttons were working on it. If I hold the volume up and power button to restart the Xoom, then it restarts and everything works fine. The only thing I found is that the touch screen doesn’t work when I turn my Xoom on. I searched the net but found nothing so I guess I would find it here.

I think your table touch screen is not working because there might be some change on the settings of it. This sound like a good topic for gmanapps responds. He only had a few details at length about the comparisons between the off / on the Xoom and forced reboot (keeping the volume and power). It seems that in his case, the shutdown, the touch screen to stop working and the hard reset is the only action that restores functional. Maybe I can shed some light on why these two similar actions provide different results (or numbers) in your situation.

I have searched through different number of threads and I have read posts by gmanapps for differences in the hard reset and on / off, but this makes no sense to me when considering my problem. All you want to know is if this is a hardware or software problem. If it's software so I can live with it until a day arrives. I think that the software because otherwise it would not work at all or I lose control at random? Today I used my Xoom for more than 6 hours without problems. Never lose touch controls randomly

Your touch screen issue is not solved by the factory reset so I think it may have caused because of the tablet’s firmware. I have not found this problem with any other Xoom tablets so I am bit unsure about this issue. I would hope that major or the newer firmware might be a solution for your touch screen problem. I would have replaced it another unit rather than take the risk that one day the forced reboot stops resolving the issue.

I guess that there is not a big deal in forced reboot or a normal reboot and so it is a different thing which is causing this issue. Also you are right, if you do not touch directly control after a factory reset, then that makes it even more baffling. I'm not sure whether there sbf rom if it did, in theory, you could do, but I will say this, without a functioning SD card, which would certainly be afraid of it. Why do with Motorola and see if they will send an advanced replacement?

You should think of having a replacement for your tablet. I also was having some issue with the tablet and so I went there immediately and sent me a new Xoom. I would like to thank by sending a replacement. It seems that Motorola is not exactly quick response to messages, but look great for replacing defective units. You would find that the replacement would make you satisfied much more rather than fixing the issue.

I have the same problem. Comments:
    1. I dropped my Xoom in the toilet.
    2. I disassembled it to let it dry.
    3. Noticed the touchpad controller was glued to the metal backplate.
    4. When pushing the touchpad controller to the metal backplate, effectively better grounding the touchscreen, the problem went away.
    5. This could be a problem with the way your touchscreen is grounded, and I believe my problem was due to water causing a poorly grounded touchscreen controller. I used foam under the case to better push the connector against the metal backplate.
