Effect of Live Wallpaper on battery life of Motorola Xoom

Hello guys, I have been using Motorola Xoom Android tablet PC from a while now, two months to be specific. It is working perfectly fine with no issues. I just wanted to clear my few doubts. Recently I downloaded aniPet Marine Aquarium Live Wallpaper for Amazon as it was free sometimes back. I downloaded it for my Motorola Xoom mobile as I liked the way the wallpaper looks like. So I just wanted to know whether installing this Live wallpaper in my Motorola Xoom will affect the battery life of my tablet? Please Help!!

It is better that you try the run the wallpaper which you have downloaded for your Motorola Xoom tablet PC i.e. the aniPet Marine aquarium Live Wallpaper. You should install the Live wallpaper in your Xoom and check your battery stats throughout the day. By doing so, you will get an exact view of how much of your battery power is consumed and at what rate. You can make out the difference between the performance of your battery before installing the live wallpaper and after installing it. The system will be showing the chunk of battery which is consumed by the wallpaper.

I must say this is a pretty interesting question. I am also using Motorola Xoom android tablet PC and has been using many live wallpapers from sometime. During all this months of using Motorola Xoom with plenty of different wallpapers, I did not notice much issue with the battery life of it. Not much of the battery power was consumed by those wallpapers. The applications which drains much of my Xoom’s battery is the navigation and while I am watching videos. But all in all Motorola Xoom has got decent battery life.

The battery indicator of Motorola Xoom android tablet pc only shows how much battery is consumed by the display screen of your tablet. But it does not show any detail about the amout of power consumed by the wallpaper. But the Screen consumes up to 70% of your battery for me if I don’t spend much time on any other applications. But it’s logical that anything that would keep your display running would probably keep on consuming your battery. So according to me the Live wallpaper would consume a lot of battery and would degrade your Motorola Xoom’s battery life.

If you ask my suggestion then I would suggest you to search for an app which can easily check the amout of battery power consumed by every application running in your Motorola Xoom tablet PC. As the tablet is an Android tablet, you can search for an app for this purpose on the Android Market. Just search for the same on Internet and download the files from Internet by visiting the Android market. You can find many apps at Android Market and you can install those apps either for free or by paying the little amount required to purchase it.

You should remember that not all live wallpapers have the same properties and are created in a similar pattern. Some LIVE wallpaper’s are very simple, whereas some consist of high amounts of “going on” behind the animations. The frame rate plays a very important role in determining the impact of the animated wallpapers on the drainage of battery power. It determines how the LIVE wallpaper will handle when it is visible and also how it will respond when it is not visible.
