Sony Ericsson Xperia Play not allowing to change default Text alerts

I have been using Sony Ericsson Xperia play from last 2 months. It’s an excellent Android Smart phone with features such as 3G, LED-backlit LCD display, 5 MP camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth. I downloaded many applications from android market. Those applications were quite good. But a minor issue that I noticed in this phone is that it is not allowing me to change its default text alerts. I am unable to change its default text tone. I have tried numerous times to alter the sound from the setting menu but whichever tone I prefer to use, my phone still plays the SE defaulted tone. The default text tone is irritating me a lot. Is this the bug in my phone? Can’t I remove this bug? If anyone is having any idea about it then please let me know.

This issue is not much complicated. It is possible to modify the default text alerts in your phone. As it is an android phone it is much easier to alter the SE defaulted tone. There are many applications in the android market using which you can customize your ringtones and text tone. I know one application called Tone Picker. This application allows to customize text tones and it works fine. Try this application or any other application from android market and then try to customize your text tone. This time it will definitely work.

Text alerts can be changed easily whenever user wants to change it. But you are not able to do so. This issue can be because of some minor problems in your phone settings. It can also be the firmware issue that needs to be addressed. Upgrading the firmware can fix this issue. I recommend you to upgrade you phone’s firmware to its latest version and then try to customize the text tones. Up gradation will bring your phone to its initial state and will change all the modification made in your phone settings. For such issues firmware up gradation normally works out. But the issue that you are facing can be because of some improper phone settings. To solve this issue you need to modify some internal phone settings. To do the same you need to perform the following steps: click on menu -> message-> click on settings-> from settings change the notification ringtone and customize it to the new ringtone that you want to set. The employee present over there will assess your phone and let you know why you are getting those errors in your phone. He won’t charge for this. He will also tell you how to overcome such issues in future.
