Hey mate I myself is a HTC user. I would like to tell you that there is a built in Microsoft Voice Commander application. I myself have a Tilt2 running WM6.5. My pathway to Voice control is Start and then settings, followed by personal and finally voice command. However, the passageway on the HD2 may be dissimilar. Also, voice command can do many things, but sorry to say, dictating text messages i.e., speech to text is amongst them .

Hey dude, in order to prompt voice command you are required to grasp the call button awaiting a tone and a thus microphone icon will be seen in the task bar. Also, in the process, make sure that you say entry name along with call in front else you will have to carry on in a manual way. Also, there are many options available to explore the voice commands. You can surely give a try to it, there’s no harm involved. Hey in case you wish to find out what voice command does for you then you can go to the Microsoft’s website and then look out for Voice Command Tutorial

Hey I would enlighten you about the video mentioned above. It is around 20 minutes interactive discussion which will provide you with sufficient information. You can also make use of it along with Bluetooth headphones and manage the phone hands free. However, you must facilitate Voice Command before using it. Just go to settings option and then menu, select all settings and follow it up with personal. Finally select voice command and verify the enable box.
