Is iPad 2 3G unlocked ?

Hello friends I am thinking of buying this new iPad 2 3G for myself. As of now my current location is united states however after sometime I will be shifting from united states to germany. So I just want to know whether I can use this phone in the Germany as well. So if I use this iPad 2 in the AT&T network in the united states so will I be able to use it in the different network in Germany. So basically i want as can this iPad 2 be unlocked or not. Well I am getting to hear a lot of opinions from everyone. Some are saying that it is locked to the at&t or the Verizon network in US but some are saying that it can be unlocked. So that has put me in a confused state of mind. So now you all only tell me what should I do in such situation? Let me know if this iPad 2 can be unlocked or not.

See the iPad 2 is unlocked and it can be easily used outside the united states as well. The thing is that you will have to get a new sim card for the German country and that’s it. You will not have ti worry much in the unlocking the iPad 2 is the unlocked tab and hence there is nothing much to discuss about it here. So I hope you have got the point that I have made here. Do read it properly and in case if you have got some doubts then do clear it out here.

See I had a talk with many people and they have said that if I limit it up to the at&t network then I would not be able to use the iPad 2 in the other countries especially in the Germany. So that’s what added to my confusion. So I wanted to confirm it with you all. Now what should I do. Having read your suggestion you have said that the iPad 2 is unlocked. So is it true? Please do confirm again and get back to me here.

You basically have to stick with the AT&T version of iPAd 2 and not the Verizon version of the iPad 2. I am saying this because the Verizon network uses the cdma connection and hence it will be difficult to switch to the cdma version when you move to the Germany. This is because there are majority of the gsm connections in that country. So this is what I have to say go and get the AT&T version of the iPad 2 and you will be able to use it in the Germany with several gsm service providers like T-Mobile or Vodafone.

See if you are not happy with our responses then I would advice you to go and Google this query there you will find lacks of users who will claim that iPad 2 is unlocked. So that’s what the same information we are providing you. We cannot give you any blind instructions. We have done some research and hence we advice you accordingly. Stick to the AT&T version of iPad 2 and as the above user said when you shift your base to Germany then you will be getting the option to switch to the different sim cards. Do not switch to the cdma network.

Ok, thanks for your response. I understood that the iPad 2 is an unlocked tab and can be used in the different network. So thanks for clearing out my confusion.
