Toshiba Satellite L635 remains stuck when running on battery power.

I brought a Toshiba Satellite L635 laptop few days back and it has started showing problems. Whenever I try to work on my laptop, the entire computer freezes and get stuck after 5-10 minutes of starting. I am unable to understand how a brand new laptop can come up with problems. I have noticed that it works perfectly with any problem when the computer is plugged in to the AC power. I can’t understand what would be the reason behind all this. If anyone is having solution then please help me. It will be appreciated.

According to me, as it is a brand new laptop, the battery must not be charged and that’s why your laptop is getting stuck. I would suggest you to charge the battery until it shows that the battery is 100% charged. You can check the charge by clicking on the battery icon in the system tray. You should try to remove all the unnecessary running process as they could me eating a lot of resources and battery. You can also try removing the battery and installing it again on the laptop. Be careful while doing it.

I am not sure about it but there is a strong possibility that there is some problem with the motherboard. You should probably make sure that all the necessary drivers are installed in your laptop and they are updated. Are you using any wireless card? I also faced this problem a while back. And in my case the problem was on the wireless card. When the wireless connection was turned off, the laptop worked very well. But when I turned on the wireless, the computer started freezing up again.

Did you try starting the laptop in safe mode and check whether it get stuck while using on battery power or not? If not then I would surely recommend you to start your Toshiba laptop into the safe mode. You can boot up your laptop into the Safe Mode by continuously pressing the F8 function key until you see the safe mode option on your laptop screen. Select the Safe Mode option and start your system. It would be better if you scan your entire system for virus and remove it if found any. Always keep your antivirus updated. Hope It will help you out.

This is pretty much shocking that nobody suggested you the best solution you have in your case. You said that you brought the laptop just few days back. Then the best solution for your any problem is that you should visit the nearest Toshiba Service center or the retailer form whom you purchased your laptop and claim your warranty. It is for sure that your laptop is still under warranty period (as for every product it is minimum of 1 year) so you can get your laptop repaired or replaced without much trouble and with no extra charges.

This is important. I have now purchased 3 L635s from Best Buy in the Western New York area. All three machines came with nonworking batteries that would not charge. When removed from the machines, the battery icon had a red strike through it with the note "battery not recognized".

At the first exchange with BB I was told it was likely a faulty machine from Toshiba. I started a new machine before leaving the store and found the same issue. Again, BB was very noncommittal and suggested it was "a bad batch". So I suggested I might try another store.

So, visiting another Best Buy (approximately 15 miles away) I grabbed another machine and started it up at their Geek Squad desk. Again, the exact same issue was present. I asked if they had a test battery to try and they said "no".

Geek Squad was stumped. Of course, I was more stumped because I had previously worked a number of remedies for battery charging issues.

In the end I received the same line, "must be a bad batch." So how far does this bad batch run and what course of action will be taken. I asked the BB manager, "So you won't be selling these to anyone right?" He was noncommittal...."Well...I can't say that."

Well instead of going and purchasing the battery on the second time why don’t you visit the Toshiba customer care centre nearby you so that they will accept your complaint and will do the needful for you because such cases are normally handled by the official members only.
