NoteSlate: The Thinnest Tablet for $99

It's been a while we had not had an original concept to dissect! And from these creators, NoteSlate could exceed the state concept and be produced massively in the coming months. But what is it that NoteSlate?

This is a tablet with a touch screen E-Ink (pen input) to 13 inches with a resolution of 750 × 1080. Already, these measurements seem surprising because none of this diagonal screen is still out of laboratories and R & D. In addition, the NoteSlate be sold in 4 colors (black, green, blue and red, and in a version combining the 4) the color will also be displayed on the screen, as shown in the following pictures. But for now, we fail to see how this can be NoteSlate. In any case, this should not come at the expense of the autonomy of the product, announced at around 180 hours of continuous use (for a featherweight 280 grams). The basic version is only equipped with a USB port, but the WiFi can be optionally installed.

The NoteSlate also be differentiated from the competition through an open source operating system that developers can modify at will. The first version of the software includes a tool for drawing and taking notes but also a basic MP3 music player. A second build (numbered 1.5) will come on the heels with support for PDF (particularly useful with a screen this size) and a text reading engine (compatible ePub?). The roadmap also talks about the NoteSlate software version 2.0 can do the handwriting recognition. Is not this too good to be true?

The advertised selling price is $ 99, something unrealistic given the current prices of electronic paper displays unless the NoteSlate uses a different screen technology. The product should be available for the month of June 2011. Again, the deadline seems highly optimistic. On paper (e-course!), The NoteSlate gear is amazing. You would just believe.

If NoteSlate is a concept rather attractive on paper, it is still a concept. Its developers hope to release a first model in the month of June for $ 99 , but for now we cannot see the images of concept. Hopefully, other color models released throughout the year and forward a model quadricolor be released.
