    Cannot set Ringtone in Verizon

Hi all, I am having some of the music files in my phone. All of them are writhe the extension (.mp3). Whenever I try to set that as the ringtone then it is not able to set that and shows me the message that says “cannot use this file”. I have tried with many ringtones but all the times, it is giving me the same message. Can you please tell me that why this is happening to me and why I am not able to set the ringtone for that? This was not the case when I was using the handset from Nokia. Please help me friends, I am bored with the default tome from the phone. Thank you.

It may not be supporting the mp3 file that you are trying to use. There is one way by which this can be done. Just browse the song from your phone and cut that song to about 300k that is about 12 to 18 sec. There are many available on internet that will help you to do that. Just search for them and I am sure that you will get it easily. After cutting the file, save that with the extension .mid. Now transfer that file to your mobile with the help of the data cable. Otherwise you can also mail it to your id and retrieve that from your phone. Save it to your memory card and set that as the ringtone. I hope that it will help you to do that.

The music file that you are trying to use may be very large and that is the reason that you are getting the problems like this. So make sure that the file which you are using is a small file. If that is very large then the phone memory will not be able to load that file and you will get the error message like this. So in short, you should try to use the file of the small size and see if that is able to help you.

Most of the editing software allows you to save the file as the extension of .mid and us that as the ringing tone. In the place of that you can directly rename the file as *.mid and see if that transform that. If while renaming, it asks you that this file will not be usable after that then don’t perform the action. If that is the case then you will have to download and use the editing software for this. Many of the times, I have seen that changing the extension of the file, changes the format of the file without any use of the third party software. I hope that this will do the same in your case also.

You can directly change the extension of the file from Windows explorer window. But for that, you just have to do one simple setting. From the Windows explorer window, go to the tools and select folder option. Now select view tab from there. You will see one checkbox which says "show hidden files and folders". You have to check it and along with that, you have to uncheck the checkbox for "hide extensions for known file types". Once you are done with this then you will be easily change the extension of the file devoid of any problem.
