Is SIP required for Google Voice on Nokia N810

I have purchased a new Nokia N810 phone and this phone is just awesome, Though I have not checked all of its features. Recently I tried to make voice call from this phone where I got failed. Actually I was trying to make a call from the Google Voice but it didn't worked for me. I doubt that it would be needing SIP on my phone. Can you guys tell me that does it need SIP to make call by Google Voice?
