Lenovo T41 user torn, should switch to T510 or wait for new releases

I am right now having Lenovo ThinkPad T41 laptop. Every now and then I am experiencing the problem with this laptop. Now I, finally, have decided to get a new laptop for me. I have seen T510 laptop and it has attracted my interest on it. I want to purchase this laptop but the only problem is that there are few questions in my mind. First of all, is it too heavy than my current T41? Is it worth to spend on this model or should I wait for some other models which Lenovo may introduce in the coming month? Apart from that, what about the sound system of T510 when compared to T41? I don't want to install an external sound card and would prefer to have better onboard sound system. And can I run SSD on this laptop? I would like to have fastest response time.

Yes T510 laptop is slightly heavier than T41 model. You can consider the laptop as half a kg more than the current Lenovo model that you have. However, if you are assuming it to be too heavier while on move then I don't think it will affect you more since you have been using T41 from a longer period of time. If you are thinking Lenovo to release some newer model which you can consider before purchasing a new laptop then please note that Lenovo never releases the actual release dates. Considering about the sound system, its the same as it is on your current laptop. Indeed you can have an SSD placed on your laptop to get better speed.

OK thanks for your prompt and descriptive reply. How about the screen? Is it same or there is some improvement to this newer model? Moreover, if it is not too heavier than I think I can keep it on my laps while working. I hope there is no problem with that and I would not feel it too heavy when placing it on my laps, what say? And as you said the sound system is same, how can they be same? If they both have the same speaker than why Lenovo have introduced a newer model, they could have sustained with the same model isn't it? Are you sure that they are same? I have also heard that the speakers are louder than T41 laptop.

When it comes to T series of laptop, Lenovo has a matte screen and it is one of the strong reason why users are attracted towards it. And talking about the speakers, indeed T510 model have better sound system when compared to its previous generation of laptops. You will experience a better sound when you will see any movie or listen to music. You don't need to install any external card for that. Everything is onboard.

Switching to T510 model or any other model completely depends on your requirement. What are you actually looking for? Do you want processor speed, ram, hard disk space, hdmi etc? Moreover what is your budget with your new purchase? If you are looking for high definition, then I think T510 is the perfect model for you. I don't think you will have this feature in other Lenovo models. Moreover, T510 has eSata port which works better similar to one if you are looking for high speed access to external drive.

Everything seems to be perfectly fine for T510 model but the only thing which I think you will not have. It is the SSD because the technology is not yet developed enough and it is waste of money if SSD is your prime importance. You will face a lot of problems if you have ssd installed on your laptop. The problems may be related to compatibility, software support, optimum speed etc. Until it is fully functional and supportive I would suggest to have a traditional hard disk with a better speed on your new laptop.
