Touchpad is not responding quickly in Aspire 5740G

I think that you might not have seen this kind of issue on your laptop before. I won an Aspire 5740G in a online bid. It is a good thing to have such a good laptop for freely. Everything works fine in this except the trackpad. It just got sick recently. The problem is that the after using the keyboard the trackpad become completely unresponsive. It will remain in this position only for few seconds, after that it will automatically restore itself without any response from me. It seems to be little weird for me. I don’t know any reason for this kind of behavior in my laptop. If you have one please suggest me along with the solution.

I think you may not know that the current or new Acer’s model laptops are fitted with a synaptic touchpad. If you hear about the criteria about these touchpads then you will be surely start hating this. The operational criterion is they are formerly configured to not receive input some time later the last key was pressed. This feature most useful. It helps you when you're writing or typing something using keyboard and don't want to accidently be hitting the touchpad. It will also avoid you from moving, clicking and messing around reluctantly. This technology is called "PalmCheck".

As far as the knowledge in laptop I can say it is only the issue of Palm Check. I assume that you might have heard about this property before. It is the common property for Laptop users in Windows OS. In your laptop the PalmCheck feature will be held by the Synaptic driver. You can get rid this issue by disabling the PalmCheck in properties. The other option is if your OS is Windows then Go to Start> Control Panel> Mouse Properties> Synaptic Touchpad> Pointing> Sensitivity > PalmCheck. There you have set its property to minimum.

It is not the issue of your touchpad. It may be the feature of the OS or the some kind of programs, applications installed on laptop. Low on memory will also take a little time interval when you switch from the keyboard input to touchpad. Some times while typing on keyboard you might have noticed that the letters will be displayed on screen after typing. This kind of noise will happen in rare occasions not every time. I think the same thing is happening with your touchpad also.

In the Aspire 5740G laptop touchpad or trackpad uses Synaptic drivers. If these drivers are not performing well on you then you can go for alternate drivers. But make sure that the alternate drivers should be compatible to your laptop; otherwise you can’t install it at all. I heard about one HP drivers that work. The current Synaptics driver is nonspecific or standard, but it will work fine. The 15.0.13 drivers from HP also work much better.

First of see that what drivers the touchpad is currently using in your laptop. If you are using ALPS touchpad then you have to go for ALP drivers otherwise it won’t work perfectly. Get the newest driver from Acer. Go to Acer driver page and enter aspire 5741G. There you can download the ALPS driver very easily. Install it on your lap and see how it will work. Otherwise choose the best one Synoptics. Running OS in safe mode will also get rid all the issues in the laptop along with late response from touchpad.
