OFF screen during the Start up screen comes ON after the sleep

I have a Toshiba Equium A300D-13X laptop running in the environment of windows vista. My laptop was running fine till yesterday, but when I started my system today, then the start up screen of my laptop does not comes on. When I connect an external monitor with my laptop, then the monitor works fine, but still my laptop screen does not comes on. When I close the lid of my laptop making it sleep, then after the wake up the laptop screen works well and I am able to see the proper display. If I restart my laptop after that, then again I am getting the same problem, so for making it work I will require to do the same thing which I did before. I don’t have much idea related with this issue. Please help. Thanks.

I will like to suggest you a solution regarding this problem. First you need to press the windows key on your keyboard and at the same time you need to pres the R key. You have to do this before the laptop screen turns on. Doing this will bring up the run window on your screen. You have to type the command “dxdiag” in the run window. Once you do this a window will appear which will try to detect your direct X settings. You will require moving to the second tab, which will show you the display settings. If you are not able to see your monitor information in the middle or top left on this tab, then you will require updating the latest version of DirectX on your machine. I think after doing this fix you will be able to solve you issue.

I will try to suggest you couple of fixes for solving this problem. First try to update display driver and the ATI catalyst on your machine. If this does not solve the problem, then try to reinsert the graphic card and after that try to reboot the system, then see if it solves the problem. I hope that the solution which I have provided to you will definitely help you out.

Thanks for the reply, but I will like to tell you that i have referred you post and I went to the second tab which you have suggested to me. There I was able to see my monitor information in the middle of the tab. You have told that if I do not get any information related with my monitor then i will require updating the DirectX. But I gave tried to update my driver, even though I was able to see the info of my monitor in the tab. Even after doing this update I am still getting the same problem with my laptop. The problem is now making me frustrated as it is not getting solved out. Please try to suggest some other solution. Thanks.

Even I was facing the same problem on my machine. I have tried to implement the solution which is being provided above by the jacek. I have installed the latest version of DirectX. Now after doing this fix my problem is being solved. On starting the system now it starts normally without any problem. It was really a nice solution. So thanks very much for the help.
