    Pendrive is write-protected automatically

I am using the Apacer handy steno HN212 pen drive from last 5 months. It never reported any problem with that. But yesterday when I inserted the pen drive in my computer and tried to access the files then it shows me the message that the file is write protected. I tried to format the drive but it was not able to format that. I need to take some data from my friend’s computer but not able to do that so I need the solution as early as possible. Please help me get out of this. Thank you very much in advance.

It would be a good idea to uninstall and install the driver again. To this you can follow the steps below:
    1. Insert the pen drive in the USB slot on your computer.
    2. Right click on my computer from desktop.
    3. Select the properties.
    4. Open the hardware tab.
    5. You will see a button for "Device Manager". Click on that button.
    6. Look for your flash drive in the list and right click on that. Select uninstall.
    7. Now remove the drive and after few seconds insert that back.
    8. Now it will open a hardware wizard. Just follow the onscreen instructions and you will be able to install the driver again.

This may be the problem because of the virus attack on your system. Do you have antivirus software installed in your computer? If not then you should install good antivirus on your system and scan the whole drive with this. Make sure that the virus definition for this is up to date because if it is out dated then it may not detect some threads which are causing the issue. Delete the detected threads and then format the drive.

There may be some files in your drive that is creating the problem for you. Many of such file is not getting detected with the antivirus. There is a software available on internet that will help you solve the issue. This software is called “Unlocker”. This is well known software that can solve the things like this. Just download and install this on your computer. After installing this just right click on the drive and you will see another option named unlocker. Select that option and it will report back if it found any such file. Select delete from drop down menu and press ok button. After that format the drive and this will format the drive without any problem.

You can also try to update the driver. Search for the latest driver on internet and download that. Install that to your computer. Before doing that you should make sure that you have tried to uninstall and install the driver as suggested above. I hope that this will solve the issue for you.
