Macbook Air upgrade to Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard

I am thinking to upgrade my Macbook air to snow leopard. On some website they said that first generation of Macbbok air is not suitable to install Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard and they suggest to click to see the views of members about this issue. Can I upgrade the Macbook air to snow leopard(Mac OSX 10.6)? Do you have any idea or suggestion about this please let me know. your valuable suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Re: Macbook Air upgrade to Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard

I even want to upgrade my macbook air to Snow Leopard (Mac OSX 10.6). So I use Remote CD installation process, stsrt MBA and mounted remote CD and proceed to run Install Mac OSX.app. After sometime the utility told me that disk did not have enough space. But disk has 20GB of free space. After digging I found that PGP whole Disk encryption is not compatible with snow leopard. I decrypt the disk as advise byPGP and restart the installation process. The install application now gives another error saying that the Machintosh hard drive in my Macbook air is not a bootable disk and could not install it.So can any one tell me how I can install snow leopard to my Macbook air.

You need to check the disk utility and it will be GUID. Using disk utility you need to add a new partition of 1GB and now try to install the snow leopard and sfter you are able to install snow leopard. When snow leopard get installed you can recover your 1Gb space use the disk utility to delete the 1GB partition and recover the disk space. If you get any disk verification error from disk utility then you are suppose to repair it before resizing the partitions.

That are the false information that first generation of Macbbok air is not suitable to install Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard. I have a first gen MBA running snow leopard(Mac OS X v10.6) and it is really awesome. With leopard I had kernal task problem but with Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard the things are running cool. Applications like safari, iTunes and etc are much faster then leopard I. All the things are running much more cooler then it was with leopard.

I was also planning to install Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard on Macbook air.And I just finished installing snow leopard on MBA without having any problem. I started through Remote Disk but get Repair disk warning during installation and need to follow the remote install process through disk utility. I have never done it before and I was worried of loosing all my data but it all work fine and the installation is done successfully. I do not know what was the reason for repair disk warning I think it might be due to the old iBook I was using. I am getting 9-10Gb more space after upgrading which is of a lot important on Macbook air.

Re: Macbook Air upgrade to Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard

I have successfully installed snow leopard on early 2009 Macbook pro 15 inch. I assume that snow leopard will work fine with my Macbook air. Using external drive all seems to be well but then I receive a error message saying that snow leopard could not installed and I should contact the manufacturer and even did not mention what the error was.So I did the hard reset and reset PRAM, now it is working but all my applications went crazy. Failure to update safari and iTunes. I have a time machine backup from a couple of hours before attempt to install. I need to be done this today and can not rely on this system. I get a lot of free space after the process it means something happened.
