    Re: OpenVPN Compatibility?

Do you know that creating OpenVPN requires a tap/tunnel interface. This is available on OS X with the Kernal extension and setting is not easy to compile extension for iPhone without the phone kernal source. And if you don't know then you can hardly compile it for your iPhone. and Apple is not going to allow to compile the extension for iPhone using the third party kernal source.

    Re: OpenVPN Compatibility?

Even I wanted to create an OpenVPN tunnel so that I can let iPhone users access through this type of connection.I have successfully compiled OpenVPN for the iPhone using third party Kernal source. It is useless if you are unable to manage to get tun/tap kernal extension compiled. So it is important to have the detail knowledge to set up kernal extension compile in order to have OpenVPN working.

It is really disappointing that the SDK does not allow functionality like extensions. I know an application named Netshare which can be used to share Internet connection. So you can resolve your issue with this application. Try to download it and see it might help to share your Internet connection with other people having iPhone.

Wireless TOS would not have any issue with OpenVPN and it can access the network connection. And even openVPN application is also possible. So now it is your choice whether you want to do it using the application or you will try wireless TOS. Hope this solve your OpenVPN connectivity issue. Please let me know whether this help you or not.

    Re: OpenVPN Compatibility?

Netshare is an application where you configure your application to use it. It just connects to it and then data is relayed. This is done using TCP. Wherein Tunneling is better but bit harder to connect as it require low level packet manipulation. Apple do not want people to use third party kernel extension on the iPhone as they are going for the stability. So better for the updation done by Apple to solve this issue.
