Can't Change Permissions or Ownership on an external drive

I am facing problem with my external disk, but I have used it for a large number of time with my computer system. The thing is that I am facing this problem from last one week when I have upgraded my computer system. I am unable to access it and getting an error. I gone through this by various mode but I can’t able to remove this. Any help regarding this problem will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I think you have to uninstall the Operating system from your computer system completely, because this kind of problem occurs mainly at the time of upgrading the new operating system with another one on your computer system. The system has the feature of the other Operating system and you will provide it the new one so it unable to detect it from the new one.

Ok, Can you delightfully tell me the name of External Drive you are using for your computer system or your personal use. Or can you tell me about which formatted file system you are using like HFS+, FAT32, NTFS, ext2, etc, and atlast what was prepared to the drive immediately before you are not accessing it.

Re: Can't Change Permissions or Ownership on an external drive

I'm using the external drive of Chris_Vir2 Production where I am facing the problem. Actually it’s an HFS (Hierarchical File System) + drive. This happen yesterday when I have not even used before that the change permissions on a folder application support occurs. After I click to apply it with this items, I couldn’t no longer use the drive and now superior it chunk of applications without unexpected stop upon the launch.

Re: Can't Change Permissions or Ownership on an external drive

I had faced the same problem but the only thing is that it is confidential to just single folder on my new external hard drive called as the Open Share. Now I am at present able to create and change the folders and files on the whole drive apart from the individual folder. At the same moment I have gone across to the folder but all time I try and modify it and it just goes back to access. For that I've use the code which is show below:
    Code:

    ls -alO /Volumes
    id
    echo "done"
and then I got the output as
    Code:

    alex-s-macbook-pro:~ Alex $ ls -alO /Volumes
    total 8
    drwxrwxrwt@ 4 root admin hidden 136 27 Jan 18:49 .
    drwxrwxr-t 49 root admin - 1734 27 Jan 18:21 ..
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin - 1 27 Jan 18:21 Macintosh HD -> /
    drwxrwxrwx@ 8 Alex Alex - 264 27 Jan 19:19 OpenShare
