Seriously confused...3gs 4.0.2 old bootrom jailbreak?

I just heard about the jailbreak, and I am totally new to this thing. I have tried hard to do this on my iPhone, but the more I go with it, the more I get confused. I am having 3gs on OS 4.0.2, and when I went for doing the jailbreak, I was not able to do so. Can you all please tell me what could be the possible thing because of which I am unable to perform this? Please suggest something so that I can do this. Thanks in advanced.

Well if you want to jailbreak the iPhone of yours the very first thing that I would suggest you to do is, to check the bootroom. See that it is not old. In your case I guess that the bootroom is old and because of which you cannot do this on the iPhone. Also I would suggest you; if possible, to wait for the release of Sn0wbreeze 2.0, let us see if that can make some difference. I think that this should come out with some magic and help for you.

I do not think that you need to even check for the bootroom, I know it is old. The reason behind this is because that if it was new then you would have done this long time ago. I would also suggest you the same to wait for the release of Sn0wbreeze 2.0. Sn0wbreeze 2.0 is like Pwnage Tool which creates custom firmware on Mac and allows creation of custom firmware on Windows. The reviews say that it will be successfully able to do the Jailbreak.

Yes, you both are right the bootroom is older. I however doubted it but I think that it proved to be the main cause for the problem. Well counting on your suggestions I will try keeping the patience and wait for the release of Sn0wbreeze 2.0. Well please inform me about the release date of Sn0wbreeze 2.0. You have asked for some light on this topic so I would suggest you to search regarding this on our forum. Thanks a lot Pugsly, the two threads that you gave were really wonderful and really informative. I was happy to increase the knowledge regarding the Jailbreak. I went through the threads and happy with the tips and information given there. I am now so excited that I want to simply do this on the iPhone. I would be happy if I can get more hand on it. I do not know, but I have come here after visiting and following the suggestions from other forum. I was though having the similar problem, but I think that I have come with a lot more problem by following their advice. They there suggested me to go for the down-gradation. They suggested me to download the 3gs 4.0.1 ipsw and try. When I did this the iPhone of mine could not be restored. I think that I am out of luck. Is there any chance that I can get it back?

Why don’t you go for the Reset of the iPhone. I usually suggest this as the first option to all the ones having some serious problem with the phones. You have told that the iPhone of yours have gone in the recovery mode, I would suggest you to go for Hard Reset instead so that you can be out of the recovery mode. If you are not able to do this in an easy manner then you can tiny Umbrella for the same. After this you will be back to the 4.0.2 again.

No I cannot perform the Hard Rest on the iPhone of mine. When I went for that it simply does not allowed me to do that. It either hangs or switches off. Also when I went for the tiny Umbrella option that even did not work. I do not know where I am going wrong. Can you please suggest me the version of the tiny Umbrella? Also when will the next jailbreak come in the market? Is it going to be the same like snOwbreeze like?

No I do not have any idea regarding next jailbreak. I am sorry that the Hard Reset did not work for you. As it was already mentioned in this thread above that snOwbreeze 2.0 will be going to release soon. Keep patience, it is specially made for this purpose. Also, you had asked for the version of Umbrella, I would in this case suggest you for the 4.1.4 version. Try this version and I am sure that you will be back to the previous version.
