Can my Macbook Pro burn dual layered DVDs?

I am using Macbook pro since last three months. I know that almost many macbooks have ability to burn the dual layer DVD's. As I have this configuration in my Macbook.
Macbook Pro 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

    HL-DT-ST DVDRW GS23N:
    Firmware Revision: SB03
    Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
    Cache: 0 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO.

So I want to know that IS it able to burn dual layered DVD's. Pleas suggest me.

As I know about the Macbook and dual layered DVD allow the user to burn almost twice as comparison of single layered DVD. I think your Macbook is not able to burn the dual layered DVD's because you have a stranded super-drive which should posses this DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW apart from this DVD-Write: -R, -RW Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO.

You can check these steps to know that your apple laptop has this ability:
    • Go to applications folder in the finder option.
    • After this click on the utility folder.
    • Then click on the system profile.
    • In the system profile you will get hardware section and select Disc Burning.
    • In this go to DVD-Write section and you should see +R DL if you are able do dual layer DVD burns.

I was having the same problem with my Macbook when it was new. But I have tackle this problem By taking the help of Macbook support. They told me about the Zapping pram. This is a process which solve the problem. I think you should try Zapping your RAM. I think this is enough for you if not then you can contact APPLE support forum. Try this.

This is a genuine problem. I can say that if you use a bumed that is not manufactured Dual Layer disc then you will not be able to burn Dual layered DVD’s. My iMac simply refuses to read the disc, which has to be force-ejected at startup. I think this has to be some kind of problem with MacOS or the hardware. This is designed by Apple to not work with non-manufactured Dual Layer disc. You can search the Google to sort out this problem.
