Media Control Keys Stopped Working on E205

    Hello
I have E205-S1904 laptop. I have just noticed that media keys on the right of my keypad have stopped working. Whenever I touch them, they blink and beep normally but nothing happens.

I searched on internet and found that TVAP Package installation can fix this problem. Therefore I uninstalled and reinstalled it. I am currently running Windows 7 64-bit.

Anyone has some idea about this?

First remove the battery and AC Adapter and for half minute close the power switch. Now reattached those parts and power on your computer by pressing power button. When it is starting and showing Toshiba logo then press F2 key. Now press F9 key it will restore BIOS default setting. Press F10 and then select F10 this will save and exit changes. This will restart your computer. Now check that buttons are working or not.

The root cause for creating this problem is VMware Workstation (7.x). I think Buttons bus is missing USB support of the software. Same problem was happened to my friend, So I advised him to not use VMware.

Therefore if you want to use your media buttons then don’t use VMware and if you are going to use VMware then you don’t expect to use your media buttons.

It seems like your system is affected with virus attack and which is creating problem for the media keys. According to me you should format your computer and install a fresh copy of operating system. And if possible use another bootable CD for installation. Before formatting just scan your computer with some updated antivirus. If does not solve your problem then go for formatting.

Your computer maybe dusty from inside. As you told it looks like it is functioning but nothing happen when you press those buttons. It may be because there is a layer of dust which comes in between the contact of key. You should clean your PC properly or you can use keyboard cleaner to clean your keyboard.
