Presario F700 DVD/CD Drive Failure

I have a new presario F700, Compag Toshiba with Windows Vista Laptop. It is a month old, all of a sudden my DVD Drive (E stopped recognizing disks. I have tried a number of things such as CD's, DVD's and even Sims, but the CD will not even start to spin--the computer says that there is no disc in the drive. I have started the Laptop in regular and safe mode. Please provide the solution, i will be grateful to you.

There may be a problem in the driver, the simple solution for that is update the device driver. First go to the Manage Section in the My Computer and then in the device driver. Select the upgrade option and upgrade the CD/DVD driver. After that restart the computer and then insert a CD to verify that it is working properly or not, this will solve your problem.

First of all check the BIOS, whether the drive is detected or not. If it is not detected then change the bus power connector of SMPS and try it again and if not then change the drive. If it is showing in the BIOS and not in my Computer then, boot your PC in safe mode. Then go to my computer>right click>properties>hardware>device manager>select CD/DVD and uninstall all the things. restart the computer in the safe mode and the driver will be there insert a CD to verify that it is working properly or not.

If you have a internet connection on your system on which the problem has occurred, then you can go for the driver upgrade directly from the Microsoft website. It will automatically search the require driver and install it in the system. The website is "officaldrivers" from where you can download the driver upgrade. I have tried it and it worked for most of the drivers.

There seems to be a problem in your DVD/CD Drive, the solution for that is first you should check the BIOS and then check the driver in the Control panel. If it is not present in the BIOS then you have to contact the customer care assistance of the driver company. If there is problem in the Control panel then make the required setting in the driver section.

I have tried to update my driver as you have told, but nothing happened then also. I have gone to the Manage section in the computer and then in the device driver. Updated the driver and restarted the Laptop. After that I also inserted the CD to verify it but nothing happened to it. Please reply me with another solution that will work for sure and I also searched on the internet but not found the solution on it.

As you have mentioned that your drive doesn’t worked after the update so there may be a problem in the file existing on the system. First you need to download the driver from the Microsoft website. The site will search the driver on your system and then it will upgrade the latest version on it, after that restart your laptop and then insert a DVD/CD to verify that it is working or not. If the problem exists then, contact to the customer care assistance.
