    HTC Incredible signal strength issues...

I was so curious about the HTC Incredible and was considering to go for the upgrade procedure (even after I thought that a recommended $29 a month on top your scheme is still outrageous) but these entire reports of worst signal strength have made me think two times. It could be the quicker smart phone but if its continuously dropping the calls and can't manage the capability to transmit a constant data connection then it is worthless for me.

My Verizon store contains a signal repeater and even though I commonly receive 1-3 bars in my area, when I am running in two blocks of the store I receive four bars both on EV and 1x on my LG Voyager. Even with the insane signal capability within the store, the Incredible displayed three bars and reported -65 dBm, in the comparison to an previous Moto Droid right next to this with four bars and -51 dBm.

If you never move any other location that has less that appropriate coverage you can receive by on "1 or 2 bars" pretty fine . However, any location that you would have 1 or 2 bars on a common phone, you will have the issues . This is not just related to the GUI display . Also, the reception issues applies to Wifi in the same way - my phone reports a weak signal 10 feet from my transmitter. I would not purchase the phone until they resolve the issue.

It is precisely one of the factors which caused me to return my Incredible, as this likely associates to the battery drain just because of the phone boosting power to the receiver/transmitter because of signal related problems .

Just note that going to the verizon store to compare the signals with the phones on screen will yield one of three things:

    • The signal issue is the similar as the one you recently have
    • The signal capability on the screen model is maximum because they have one of those signal boosters within the store
    • The model shown on the display contains a fine radio firmware or prl, or was section of the better batch..

I got several complaints that it only displays only one or two bars, but so few that it actually does not move just well. According to me, HTC will avoid or low prioritize complaints which something is not feasible to look the way you consider it should on the phone. If you are indeed dropping the calls or getting unable to go with the data at reasonable rates, fine lets hear about that because verizon or HTC will respond to such type of issue and if possible the you need to go for the official help regarding this .

You are right chris and I am agree with you . I commonly running with 2 bars and the signal strength is about -70 dBm. yesterday , I was running with 3 bars and signal was minimum at -84 dBm. I don't have the same but my phone moves even when there is no such type of bars are getting displayed onto the screen and my internet seems to go well onto the occasions where I don't have the 3G icon .

I am getting the exact same thing here . Side by side with the Droid, the Incredible displayed with the less signal strength but Speedtest consistently displays the Incredible's data connection and going quicker and call quality seems fine .

I suspect that there are a variety of issues that are entirely getting lumped into single . But, I am so glad with my Incredible.
