Change APN in iOS4

I need some help to change APN in iOS4. Does it is possible to change that. If yes then how. What are the limitations for the same. I also want to know that for changing the APN can I use the ipad sim card also. Will that effect the phone. And in IOS what is lacking in the NPC is the good resolution. This makes the phone slow sometime. I do not think that the iPhone is made only for phone calls.

It is only useful if your carrier prevents this change. In your iPhone click on Settings and then click on General. Now go to Network and then click Cellular Data Network. If you can update these fields then you does need much help here. Just collect proper information on the settings there and then apply the same. This will not give you much help. This is restricted to some mobile users.

You will need a tool for editing for this. It is called as Plist. If you're running Windows you can use plist editor or whatever you want. Connect with SSH to your iPhone and go in this folder / private / var / mobile / Library / Carrier Bundle.bundle /. Then make a backup of your file carrier.plist. Upload your file and edit the carrier.plist and go to AllowEDGEEditing key. Save your file carrier.plist and restart your iphone.

The APN support is done via a editing of configuration file supported by Apple and it can easily be removed through the settings of your iphone. It is not supported by all service provider. In the setting once you get the network and the corresponding settings automatically filled then just click on create profile. It is quiet easy to do that if your sim card support. Go to Settings and then click on General. Now go in Network and then click on EDGE. The registered Cingular / AT & T data to fill the information. Oh edge is only supported by t-mobile .I have just entered the settings for A1 but it is still the error message could not activate edge. After finding I found the service provider column is not filled up properly.
