How to maximizing Lenovo W510 battery lifetime?

Recently I have purchase the Lenovo ThinkPad W510 using Linux operating system on this system. The thing I am worried about is that what charging threshold I can do increase the battery life. Currently I am using start = 49 and stop = 79, are these values are ok or is any other better settings for that. In short I just want to know how to maximizing Lenovo W510 battery lifetime?

You can search the net for the "memory effect" of batteries and you will get the information that you need. Just for you information, even if you are not using it, that it will degrades slowly because there is diffusion of components, up to short circuit and ignition. In general two years after purchase, its capacity is already very sore point.

The precaution was taken to retain the autonomy of higher: recharge the battery only when it is unloaded! (There are between 20 and 30% of the maximum battery charge!). If the battery is completely discharged and you will connect to the mains then removed your battery! Finally, what are good things that are difficult to meet!

I need a little advice. Yesterday I was using my laptop and I got this wonderful message: "The battery charges normally. But it reached the end of its useful life. A new battery would allow for greater autonomy. It recommends buying a new battery. Does anybody else receive this message? Is there any need to buy the new one or I can just ignore the message.

I too had the same message and actually my battery is dead. The battery light flashes red and now my laptop works only on the current. But my question is: Is there a problem to always stay connected to the power cord or is it absolutely necessary to buy a new battery after but I have not even completed two years?

Well I too have this message for some time. For security, so I saved my data on an external drive but I still do not understand if it is promotional information (like ink cartridges for printers which they say are empty 2 weeks, while I still use it for more than one month after posting!). Because I am thinking that it may be similar to case of ink cartridge I am using.

Unfortunately for me battery I think it is damn! Because now it is impossible to work on the laptop without connecting to the source if the gauge shows that the battery is fully charged, when I remove the laptop from the source it turns off abruptly and emits strange sounds apart sounds of the fan! I think that it is a high time that I need to replace the battery.
