Nokia N900 Launched in India !

The Nokia N900 was announced in India on Friday ie 4th June 2010. The N900 which runs on Maemo 5 is a supersmartphone device which can even be considered a computer in your palm.

The 5MP camera comes with a Carl Zeiss lens which will give you amazing photographs. The integrated 32gb of memory makes this an effective replacement for a media player especially as it lets you enjoy media on the large 3.5" screen.

Priced at Rs. 30,000 the device is a good competitor to other high end devices. I am waiting to get my hands on to the device. What about you ?

To be honest it is a very costly mobile phone in that price range of 30000 Rs., It has a 600Mhz processor (the same as the Motorola Droid) that incorporates a graphics processor PowerVR SGX 530 (OpenGL 2.0). There is no support for MMS also (multimedia messages with pictures or audio). The N900 should be charged every day or you'll get this phone fully discharged in the morning. This phone does not works 100% with portrait.

I just checked with the dealer... the price is around Rs. 27000 which i think is very good.

With the latest firmware PR1.2 , it works well in all modes. MMS is also supported with an application.

On top of it... the Droid does not give you inbuilt 32GB memory. Also the Droid does not have a very good camera.

Nokia N900's autonomy is only barely a day's use average intensive. The system also has N900 Maemo 5 which sometimes crashes without any real reason. It will then pause and turn on the N900 so that it becomes usable again. Moreover, it is part of heavy smartphones, literally as figuratively. Better than this would be Nokia N8 which will come in October at a price range of Rs. 23000. Also it will have 12 megapixel camera and a Hdmi cable to connect to TV and watch movies.

I tried the device but it did not crash even once. The UI animations on it are really good looking. I have finally decided to get the device tomorrow.. Local dealerships are selling it for close 25k. Really looking forward to buying it Can't wait to test out the Maemo OS.

Thanks for the link... but now that there is Ovi Store on the N900.. you can get lots of games / applications , etc directly from the Ovi store !

Btw.. have you played Bounce on the N900 ? It makes very good use of the graphics chip on the N900... the games look as good as on PSP. With emulators you can run all famous classic games.

Nokia turn its online shop, the Ovi Store the site is overloaded now. The stakes are high because this supermarket of online content is compatible with 50 models of mobile brand, or tens of millions of users around the world. Applications, games, videos, podcasts, wallpapers, web services and geographic location, etc.

The Nokia Ovi Store along with Maemo Select for applications is a very good way to get application for your N900... try to enable the extras repository for even more applications.

The device includes Ovi Maps Navigation but there is no turn by turn navigation yet. The media player on it is AMAZING !

It has 32Gb of inbuilt memory which will allow you to store thousands of songs. It plays back video without requiring conversion so it is possible to just copy over your divx files and they will play on the device
