    iPod touch headphone jack

This question has been asked several times before but I can not got a good replies. One of the friend of mine gave me his old iPod touch 8gb 2nd gen and i juts find out that the left headphone will not work but there is no matter what headphones i insert. They will only work if i apply pressure downwards onto the headphones where they are plugged or wiggle them around but it will often times loose noise in the left headphone.

My warranty is up and id when it expired. Is this considered a issue of hardware error by apple and will they replace it for free? Also ,is there anything else I should know?

    Thanks

Have you checked with another headphone. This is the first troubleshooting and you need to try this one. It happened to one of my iPod Videos. When you connect and disconnect things in the headphones jack it causes the metal plates in it to flatten out, that's why you can only get sound by moving it around. There is the best way that you can take is that you need to replace the device that you owned..

Sometime , beside going for replacement you need to be confirm that it is not going on with an incompatibility of software or hardware or what ? The issue can be measured from there also. You need to remove the software's that are used for the sound operating and which is associated with the sound. You need to reformat that and install them back and be sure ,you have connected everything properly.. After doing all this ,If you are not getting exact solution then you need to go for the replacement that is the last option in this series !!!!!!!

    Cleaning Headphone Port

There is an option through that you can do the same , it is something sticky was on one of your headphone jacks and the port is bad, and the connectors under the port can not make a firm connection. IF you are running with out of warranty, get a Q tip, rip most of the cotton off the end then twist the reset of cotton fibers around the end (not a point) to the size where it will adjust in the port. With the Touch turned OFF, get a bottle of 93-98% rubbing alchohol (minimum amount of water, will evaporate more frequent and properly with less chance of corrosion), wet the stripped end and then slowly, gently twirl it into the jack moving the similar direction as the fibers are wrapped so that you don't sheer off fibers under the jack. Twirl it into the port as far as it will go with a bit of pressure. Destroyed it and find out it for signs (color change) of dirt or junk. You may require to repeat this step so many times. Wait around 10 minutes for the alcohol to dry properly . Check the headphone jacks for dirt or sticky components while you wait for the alchohol to dry. Once there is no longer the strong aroma of alcohol at the port, you can try turning the Touch back on, and plugging in one of your clean jacks.
