New Toshiba Satellite A505-S6991 does not recognize 5.0GHz Wireless-N

I have recently bought a new Toshiba Satellite A505-S6991 laptop which is installed with Windows 7 operating system which has a Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC. I am using NETGEAR - RangeMax Dual-Band Wireless-N Router but the problem is I am not able to see the router when it is using N band. The laptop can only connect to the router when it is using G-band. I cant figure out why my New Toshiba Satellite A505-S6991 does not recognize 5.0GHz Wireless-N band and hence need your help. Any help is highly appreciated.

The network card which you are using must be not working properly due to which you are not able to see the Wireless N band. The NIC is responsible for establishing and maintaining network connectivity. If the NIC is faulty then the system will not be able to access the network. Every NIC has a software interface which configured for testing the NIC. Click on Start menu and then select Start menu. Type "ping 127.0.0.1" and hit enter. Check for the data packets which are lost during data sent and received. Ideally there should not be any losses in the data sent and received. If there are any data packets loss then the NIC is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Check if the router is configured properly or not. For the router to work properly in Wireless network it has to be configured properly. If the router is not configured properly the wireless network will not work properly. To check if the router is configured properly or not, login to the router and go to the configuration page. Get the proper settings for the router from the ISP. Check if the router is configured properly according to the settings which are provided by the ISP. If there are any changes to be made, do it and then save the settings. Reboot the router and see if the laptop is able to connect to the router.

Windows 7 operating system has lot of compatibility issues with the manufacturers of the devices. Due to this compatibility issue, many of the devices do not work properly on the computer. The compatibility issue rises due to unavailability of the drivers. You will have to download the appropriate drivers for the NIC which are supported by NIC. Go to the official website of the manufacturer of the NIC and download the latest drivers which are available for model of the network card which you are using and which is supported by Windows 7 operating system. After installing the appropriate drivers, see if the problem persists.

All the devices which are connected to the computer require a set of drivers to be installed on the computer. Drivers act as a mediator between the operating system and the device. If the appropriate drivers are not installed then the device will not work properly. To check if the appropriate drivers are installed or not, right click on my computer and select device manager. Highlight the network adapter and see if there are any caution signs. Follow the troubleshooting procedure and see if it helps. If the troubleshooting does not help, try and update the drivers for the network adapter.

The laptop which you are using only supports 2.4Ghz wireless band and hence you are not able to see the 5GHz wireless band. The wireless card which you are only supports G band, to be sure go to the official website of Realtek and check for the specifications for the model of the NIC which you are using. You will have to use an USB adapter inorder to use the wireless N band of the router.
