Can't get my webcam to work on Dell Inspiron with Windows 7

I am having the Dell Inspiron laptop and it has the Windows 7 operating system. This laptop has the inbuilt webcam and this webcam is not working with the Windows 7 operating system. The Windows shows that the device has stopped working. Can't get my webcam to work on Dell Inspiron with Windows 7. So how can i resolve this issue.

First of all i want to know that this laptop came preloaded with the Windows 7 operating system or you have upgraded the operating system from the Windows XP or Windows Vista operating system. If you have upgraded the operating system to the Windows 7 then this issue can be because of the driver software compatibility issue fro the webcam.

You have not mentioned the model number of the laptop which you are using. According to me this is clearly the issue of driver software for the webcam compatible with the Windows 7 operating system. So first install the driver software for the webcam of the laptop. After that it will work properly. So check out for this and do as suggested for resolving this issue.

If this webcam is working properly in the Windows 7 operating system before and the issue has been started some days before than i think this is the issue related with the software or the operating system itself. So i will recommend you to run the system restore wizard and restore the system setting on the date on which the the webcam was working properly. This will resolve the issue.
